Coffee and Spark

In addition to tea, I've been drinking more coffee than usual. I used to be a hard-core coffee drinker, but first I cut back because of the effects on anxiety, and then cut back more because there's a weird tie between caffeine tolerance and quitting smoking. (Basically, smokers have a higher caffeine tolerance. Go figure.)

Now, I drink half-caf. I can't add much more caffeine to the diet, because it'll freak out my body... so I bought some ground decaf the other day at the store so I'd have more drink options at home.

Dear gosh, how do people drink this crap? Not the decaf - I have a handle on that, obviously - but the store-brand ground coffee... it's just nasty as all hell. Since I can't afford to mail-order any Peet's right now, I guess I'll be making a trip to Starbucks in the near future.

It makes me wonder: when people say they don't like coffee, is it because they've only tried really crappy coffee? And is this also why people add things like vanilla to their coffee?

I've also been using SparkPeople to track my food and exercise. I'm finding it fairly useful (and it's free, unlike WW). I can't bring myself to use the message boards, however. As usual, it's probably better to have some kind of community support, but I'm really not hip on the communitas of weight loss these days.

It's not bad... I looked at it awhile ago and thought it was silly, but it is very much like WW.

At first I thought that tracking calories for everything would be way too time-consuming, but it's not. And I don't plan to do that for very long -- just until I get a better idea of how to eat.

The exercise tracking makes me happy. :)

I use Sparkpeople sometimes--I think it's pretty good, though I only read the message boards (i don't post on them). I've just been keeping my WW points tracked on an Excel spreadsheet, and that's working well for me.

Also, I can send you Peet's in a pinch...I probably charge less for s/h than they do. :) Actually--if you tell me what you want, I can *bring* you Peet's when I see you next month. No shipping charge. :)
